About. Янина болдырева Yanina Boldyreva

Yanina Boldyreva Yanina Boldyreva was born in 1986 in Novosibirsk, Russia. Her main mediums are project photography, including photobook, easel graphics, muralism, installation. In 2009, she graduated from the Novosibirsk State Academy of Architecture and Fine Arts (NSAAFA) as a muralist. While still a student, she began working as a street artist, creating murals on social topics. She continues to work as an independent street artist to this day. In 2012, Yanina met the Ukrainian video artist Oleksandr Isaenko, and together they made several video and photo projects, which were shown at international festivals, and the Duo Tone video won first place at the international competition «Video Art Review» by The Video community, Krakow, Poland. In 2014 Yanina started making photo books and photo zines. Her books have been received at international festivals and shown in different parts of the world. Yanina is an independent book publisher, and makes her own photo books and art-books with print runs of up to 350 copies. Prior to the outbreak of the Russian War in Ukraine, Yanina organized festivals of independent art books and zines in Siberia. In 2020, Yanina enriched her artistic practice with easel graphics; she opened two large solo exhibitions of graphic projects in 2020 and 2022.

  Statement

As a rule I am dealing with art photo, printmaking, drawing, video-art, mural-art, installation. I’m interested in borderlines, undeveloped territories, exceeding the frames of genres. I use different visual languages for my projects because I believe that each art conception should have its own style. The esthetic and formality not less than disclosure of a idea is important for me. I am trying to do multilayered projects and make it interesting at the different levels of understanding. At the same time, my images are intuitive. I am interested in conflicts within the individual and within society, borderline transitional states, undeveloped territories on the map of human ideas, the variability of the course of life and ideas about it. Like many artists, I work with personal themes or those in which I can find parallels with my own experience. The concepts I work with: the subjectivity of human perception, conflict, oblivion, oblivion, disappearance, destruction, the variability of life, objective and subjective, banality and madness.
