Birch people, 2022 
 It is multimedia project that includes a photo book, photos, drawings, woodcuts, texts. The project is built on the mockumentary principle, where staged and documentary photos are mixed, forming a world that symbolically reflects today’s reality. The birch man is flesh of the flesh of the birch forest. His life is quiet and mysterious. At first glance, this is an ordinary person, like you and me, but in fact, he went through an evolutionary path from homo sapiens to homo batla (birch man), becoming a creature rooted in forest soil, overgrown with bark, primordial and braces. Due to the difficulty in movement, birch people are very vulnerable, they have minimal rights, but at the same time they are completely subordinate to their state, they respect laws and fences. It is known for certain that birch people are autotrophs, they need few resources to survive, so birch people live for a very long time, but their existence does not look like life. The basis of the project is the art book Birch People, written on behalf of anthropologist researcher who managed to get into the Land of Birch People and left notes, drawings, photos made at this amazing country. The book contains the mythology of the new Russian time, that in one way or another is connected with the concept of patriotism, militarism, image of Russia of official propaganda. I took birches as the main basis of Russian identity. At the same time, I reveal various aspects of the current pro-Russian mythology, as well as social problems and existential issues.
